Shelving the TBR

Well Bookwyrms, as part of my commitment to my Word of the Year for 2023—Intention—I am making a very bold and scary step with my TBR.

I am going to shelve it.

Yes- Audrey II is going into a hibernation of sorts

I keep my TBR in the form of screenshots in a file on my phone.  For the past two and a half years, I’ve been taking screenshots of books I want to read as they cross my feed in either ads or friends’ posts. And right now, that folder has 374 images. And most of those are of series including at least 4 books each. So, we’re talking nearly 1500 books. In my TBR.  And to be honest, the last time I actually selected a book from that list was very early in 2022.

In the past 18 months, nearly everything I’ve read has been either an ARC from an author I love, a book I’ve edited, a beta read, or a recommendation directly from a trusted book buddy. And I haven’t even had a chance to get to nearly half of the book buddy recommendations. And I want to! So, I’m going to redo my TBR, start fresh with only those books, so I can keep track of those specific books.

As to what I’m going to do with Audrey II? As much as I am absolutely having a very intense internal battle about it, and more than a little anxiety, I am going to cull it. Or delete it. Or maybe just hide it.

So, in keeping with my word- I intend to start fresh with my TBR.

What about you? Any key words for 2023? Any new intentions? And how are you handling your TBR?
