Author Spotlight: Reina Torres, Romance... Night & Day

The more authors I meet and interact with, the more amazed I am at the depth of their talent. And the more I dive into their backlists, the more impressed I am with the characters they create and the stories they weave around them. While some authors have very distinct subgenres they focus on, others seem to write between worlds. Through all of it, the thing that hits me the most is how an author’s mind transitions through so many different subgenres while keeping their stories fresh and intriguing.

I first found Reina Torres through a holiday collection of novellas called Dad Bod - Men Built For Comfort. I read Reina’s Bossed by the Dad Bod in one sitting. It had all the steam and protectory vibes I love in a complete story, all within 83 pages. It was perfect. And you know I love those protectors. But I was buzzing through novellas like a kid with a new chocolate advent calendar, and didn’t get back to read Reina’s entire backlist like I planned to.

Fortunately, I know people who read just as much as I do. And my wonderful reading buddy Marie E loves Reina’s books. So, of course I asked her all the questions.

She found Reina Torres’s books as a suggestion from Amazon. Seems when you love a specific genre, and buy a whole bunch of books, the Zon picks up on that and spoon feeds you who to read next. And yes, that has gotten me in trouble with my TBR, too.

Marie was drawn in because of her love of romantic suspense, military heroes, and protector romance stories. She loves the action and suspense, but most of all, she loves the characters Reina creates! They are so relatable but also someone you would dream of being your hero. Basically, if you’re a romantic with the need for heart pounding suspense, Reina’s books are for you.

Marie was impressed with the research Reina puts into her books. She really makes everything come alive. You feel like you can envision the setting so perfectly. And isn’t that the best thing about books- escaping into their reality and feeling like you’re right there with a front row seat for all the action?

Remember when I said that I was amazed at authors who effortlessly spanned romance subgenres?  Yeah, Reina is one of them. When I sat down to grab her titles for a backlist binge I noticed two things: 1- I need a year to catch up. Reina has over 50 titles to her name. And they all look amazing! 2- they run the gamut from protector romance, to paranormal, to sweet historical westerns. So, yeah, there’s something in there for everyone.

I had the privilege of meeting Reina at Knockout Bookbash in Louisville in 2022, and I’m pretty sure I overwhelmed her with my super excited puppy energy. I’m so glad she was patient with me. She had already committed to being a signing author at Charm City Romanticon, and the fact that she was joining us from Hawaii (one of my favorite places on Earth) already had me major fangirling over her. But since I was flying home from Louisville, I didn’t buy any books and that bummed me out. I cannot wait to see her again in March at CCR. And this time, I’m bringing a bunch of her books home with me.
