Vicious Vows
Holy! Wow!
Yep, I need a minute to catch my breath. Sarah Bale has done it again. Twists and turns. So much steam. So much angst. And so much, “Woah! That did not just happen!” And just like that, another happily ever after with me realizing I’ve been holding my breath for 376 pages. Vicious Vows! Holy! Wow!
I already know Sarah knows how to write the best villains, and I fall in love with them every freaking time. And when she pairs her mafia men with women who may appear vulnerable but have so much hidden strength, I am a smitten kitten. Talk about baggage. Yeah, these characters have it by the bucketload. What I love is how Bale builds Anna and Odin into so much more than anyone gives them credit for. These are not what-you-see-is-what-you-get characters. Anna has all the hallmarks of a beaten-down soul, a party girl, the throw-away child her family tries to bully her into believing she is. But she’s got the heart (and behavior) of a rebel. And Odin—ugh! How can I fall for a man who is so vicious, so cruel, so conniving, but oh so emotional and passionate?
If you’re wired even a little dark (like me), you are going to grab onto this story and feel it in your soul. Is it pretty? Psshhh, nope! Is it kind? Hahahahaha, nope again. Is it intense and powerful and incendiary and wicked? Absofreakinglutely!
Vicious Vows is part of Bale’s Villainous Tales, and while you do not NEED to read the prior books to understand and enjoy the story, you will appreciate it so much more when you know all of the players and their world. And yes, this is DARK ROMANCE. There are subjects, topics, and scenes that will make you gasp, cringe, squirm, and sigh. If you’re sensitive to dark subject matter, reach out to someone who’s read this one first. And pick me. Because if this is up your alley, I want to chat about it like we’re talking about our best friend’s new relationship. Over tea. Or maybe something stronger.
