Not My Kind of Hero
Small-town Humor Gold!
When life gets heavy, there is one clear and reliable way I can count on to lighten my mood but also bring me serious giggles, heartfelt smiles, and swoony relationship goals: A Pippa Grant novel. And Not My Kind of Hero is another perfect example of how and why her hilarity and hijinks, nestled amongst some steamy heat and seriously deep elements of heart, are one of my favorite go-to mood balms.
Not My Kind of Hero is chock-full of great characters in an engaging and fun storyline, with some pretty big emotions as well. It’s a bit of an angsty slow burn as both mains grapple with demons and expectations, but once ignition hits, it’s definitely got energy flare intensity. And all those spaces between and leading up to that flare are fraught with the humor Pippa brings best. Small town feels, family connections, starting over and finding your tribe—all there.
Flint Jackson is serious book boyfriend material. And Maisey Spencer is one-hundred percent the person I could easily fall into a fast friendship with. Their connection is beautifully built, as are the lives they’re both struggling to manage separately. And I love that they’re drawn together by a character we never meet (Tony), but I feel like I know personally by the time their tale is told.
Not My Kind of Hero is truly standalone gold, and a fantastic way to lose yourself for a few hours. Just don’t be surprised if you find a bit of yourself within the lines and pages as well.
