Unscripted with Mila
by Melanie Moreland
More than Just a Great Love Story
And just like that, I have a new favorite Melanie Moreland book. Unscripted with Mila is an amazing deepdive into just how the right person, the right support, and the right situations can create a perfect love story.
Beyond how wonderfully Mila and Nicholas are created on the page, I loved reading about a conflict external to their relationship, and how that conflict just made their love even stronger. Moreland does a great job of developing her characters and their connection alongside their individual conditions, but also because of them. Mila and Nicholas are characters who fall hard and fast, but for the right reasons. Add in strong supporting characters who resonate as intrinsically good, and a villain who's easy to revile, and the story surrounding them all pulls you in and holds you tight.
Unscripted with Mila is standalone readable, but much more enjoyable if you know the BAM: Vested Interest and ABC Corp series, all of which are also definitely worth the binge.
On a personal note, I appreciate the time and attention Moreland took to develop her characters and their health conditions, presenting them as one part of what makes them who they are, not as being defined by their conditions. It made the entire reading experience more realistic, more personal, and more authentic.
