A Very Grumpy Father's Day
Romance Novella Perfection!
When I found out my first Kayley Loring book (A Very Bossy Christmas) was getting a follow-up novella, I couldn't be happier. I floved Bossy Christmas, have loved everything else she's written, and I love A Very Grumpy Father’s Day, too. It has humor (of course it does, it’s a Kayley Loring romcom!), heat (the perfect amount) and so much heart. And Omd! I couldn't stop laughing!
It’s a certain red muppet, and an NDA, and a phone call on speaker, and Declan-arrogance hilarious. But it's so much more. It's the ferry. And boxes. And cake. And candles. And a crying baby. And hotel rooms. And family members we already know and love. It’s spit-take hilarity, wake-the-dog laughing moments cuddled right beside cooing baby time and a Billy Boston side I never saw coming.
But beyond the perfectly infused humor and heat, it’s also beautiful and delicate insights into parenthood and marriage and how relationships and expectations and experiences change. And how two people can continue to find the care and the carefree in the chaos. And make you laugh through the tears of understanding every parent reading it will shed.
Loring does a truly perfect job of layering in wonderful reminders about how challenging and rewarding parental life can be, and it’s a worthy read for that alone, but if you’re looking for the true joy in just how lovely this novella is, I definitely recommend reading A Very Bossy Christmas before reading A Very Grumpy Father’s Day. Understanding what Maddie and Declan went through to get here makes this story even more fun.
