Sometimes what I really need in a book is fun. Hilarity and heart and heat and so much fun. And Boss Without Benefits by Lili Valente, narrated by Lili Valente and Robert Hatchet, fits that bill beautifully. It’s small-town vibes with quirky characters and even quirkier situations.
Drew is the best kind of single dad, fully devoted to his daughter, but with a definite wild side. A wild side he’s happy to show until it brings back old baggage and new fears. And Tatum is such a fun, unexpected, wrench in his perfect plans. Their meet-cute? Epic! And steamy as feck! And the characters they wrap up in their story along the way do the best job of showing just how wonderful they are as individuals, and together.
Boss Without Benefits is a quick and easy read, full of fun, heat, and a lot of heart too. As a series lead-off story, it provides a great intro to the town, the brothers destined to be instant book boyfriends, and the peculiarities intent on pulling me in for more.
Oh, and the audiobook? Fantastic! Lili and Robert do a fantastic job of truly bringing the characters and story to life. They don’t just read you a book, they perform a story. And it was an experience I can’t wait to repeat.
