Author Spotlight: Nina Bloom

Angsty, Steamy, Contemporary Romance

Some people exude light. Their entire persona burns with it. You know the minute they enter your space everything is going to be amazing. The colors around you seem brighter, the lighting sharper, the air crisper. Sounds totally cliché, right? Then you meet Nina Bloom and you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I first met Nina online (as one does in the bookish community). She was a friend of a friend. A brand new baby author. And she had this book coming out. And we chatted and shared fun times in bookish groups. And then I got an ARC of her debut novel, The Weight of Our Hearts. And I was blown away. How the hell was this the work of a debut author? Seriously, friends. The language, the story, the emotion—it was freaking incredible! Intense. Breathtaking. Inspirational.

And then I met Nina in real life. At a bookish event, as one does. Nina was a signing author at the last Shameless book con in Orlando, Florida. And she was and was not what I was expecting at all. This tiny pixie of a woman walked in and owned the room. Her personality is larger than life, and her joy is contagious.

We got to spend a lot of time together with friends, because Nina was not alone. She was part of the group I love to call the Shaders: a collection of authors in the Shades of Romance FB group, and four of them were at Shameless as signing authors. Experiencing the joy of these four women who were so closely connected on-line finally meeting each other in person was truly incredible. And Nina was most certainly in her element, with a huge, bright smile and infectious laugh that just made you want to be happy even when you were an anxious ball of mush.

When Nina attended Charm City Romanticon in 2023, everyone got to see her personality shine again. And it’s so funny, because she was supposed to be there as a reader. But then she was there as an author assistant for signing author Charissa Gracyk. And then as a panel mod when one of our scheduled moderators came down with the rona and couldn’t attend. And then authors started asking if Nina could come back in 2024 and be their panel mod again.

And we said yes. But not only to be a panel mod. Nina is one of the Rising Star authors at Charm City Romanticon 2024.  Because she truly is a rising star in the book world, even though she’s already a pretty brilliant star everywhere else already.

P.S- I just got a beta reader copy of her next novel, and I cannot freaking wait to dive in. She’s said it’s a little less angsty than The Weight of Our Hearts, but I know Nina, and there will be angst. And emotion. And humor. And I am here for all of it!
