Author Spotlight: Jess Bryant, Fate & Other Four-Letter Words

I often fall in love with authors way before I read their books. I may find them through groups, or other readers, or as in the case with Jess Bryant, through social media. I originally found her on Instagram, then started following her on TikTok and Facebook. And I was kinda hooked.

For one, Jess’s sense of humor is awesome. A little bit sarcasm, a little bit self-deprecation, a little bit real-life truths, and a lot of fun. For another, her graphics are awesome. They’re bright and eye catching, but not overwhelming. Plus, she has a pretty wide range of subgenres in her backlist. Everything from Small town, to Male-Male, to Paranormal, and Protectors.  And I love me some variety in an author’s library.

What haven’t done–yet–is dive into Jess’s backlist. Because my time lately has been chaos. I only read four books in January. I edited five, and that counts for quite a bit of my time, but I’m also in deep final-stages planning mode for Charm City Romanticon. So, I called on my reading buddy Carli for an assist with Jess’s spotlight blog.

Carli found Jess Bryant before attending Indies Invade Philly in 2021, when she made it a goal to read at least one book from each attending author. She loves that Jess’s books are always well written, with memorable characters and are always written with heart.

Definitely not a one trick pony, Jess is a writer that has something for everyone. Carli loves that Jess doesn’t just stick to one subgenre. She has paranormal shifters with her Fated Mates series, Bodyguard alphas with her All Saint’s Security Series, Small Town with her Fate, Texas series, MM with her The 400 Block series. She also incorporates many tropes into her novels including soulmates, protective heroes, alpha heroes, feisty ladies, and fated love. So no matter what your favorite subgenres or tropes are, chances are you’ll find a lot to love in Jess’s books.

When I asked Carli what she loves most about Jess’s books, she said, “What’s not to love- once you have read one you want to read all of them.”  And here I go on a serious backlist binge. Because, let’s face it, we all know by now that I am a serious book binger. And Jess definitely has an incredible backlist that is truly bingeworthy.

I am really looking forward to meeting Jess Bryant in March at Charm City Romanticon. I’m guessing I’ll see a bunch of her readers there as well, and we can fangirl together in a big way.

Oh, and IG sidenote- late last year Jess was locked out of her IG account and lost thousands of followers when she had to start from scratch. So, please head over to her new profile and give her a follow. You won’t be sorry!
