Author Spotlight: D.D. Lorenzo

This week’s author spotlight is courtesy of author Samantha Cole! Why? Because Samantha introduce me to D.D. and I love the connection they have. Samantha was one of the first authors I read when I started reading romance novels. And I always love to hear what authors I feel connected to love about authors they feel connected to.

Take it away Samantha:

I met D.D. Lorenzo by chance at a book signing in 2017. A mutual friend introduced us, and we instantly clicked. By the end of the weekend, I felt like I’d known her for years. In the months following, we chatted on Messenger and over the phone, getting to know each other better.

Fast forward to the present, and D.D. is like a sister to me. She truly is a beautiful person. Over the past six and a half years, we have been there for each other through ups and downs in both our personal and professional lives. She is one of the most caring and inspirational people I know. We talk almost every day and have visited each other despite living states apart.

Not long after meeting D.D., I read her books, starting with Indiscretion, an MM novella in Aleatha Romig's Infidelity world. I was completely drawn in by her style of writing. I’m not a fan of first person point of view, but if its written well enough to entice me to keep reading, that is the sign of a great author. D.D. is such an author. She has such a descriptive flair for writing that her scenes come to life right off the pages.

Indiscretion is the only MM book, D.D. has written, but I hope one day she’ll dive back into that genre. It’s part of Aleatha Romig's Infidelity world and fits in perfectly. The rest of her books are in the contemporary romance/women’s fiction genres. The Imperfection series include tropes such as small-town, suspense, opposites attract, and more. My mother loves this series and read all five books within three days!

D.D. is now working on her Rock Hills series, with book one, Boundless Hearts, already available.

Over the past two years, we’ve been talking about co-writing and have two books planned for whenever we can find the time in between our other projects. After writing a few chapters in each project (so we don’t forget them lol), I told her that I write the basics and she adds the flourish.

If you haven’t read any of D.D.’s books, I highly recommend them. She’s not one to toot her own talent, so I’ll gladly do it for her. I look forward to working with her in the future and can’t wait to read what she comes up with next!

From Brayzen Bookwyrm:

I’ve gotten to know D.D. well over the past year and I am so excited she will be joining Charm City Romanticon as an attending author in 2024. I cannot wait to see her again!
