The Manny
Role Reversal Trifecta!
Nina Bloom got me again. Completely sucked me into an incredible storyline with wonderful characters I couldn’t get enough of, then threw a serious twist into the mix, made me ugly cry, and by the end of The Manny had me hugging my Kindle at the most beautiful HEA.
I truly loved main characters Mae and Remi from their first foray onto the page. Mae is a strong, independent, no-nonsense heroine cloaking deep vulnerabilities behind a shield of CEO armor. And Remi is a cocky, fun-loving, but intensely dedicated hero working so hard to distance and distinguish himself from his past while building a future full of affection and devotion. Together they uncover so many layers of love, acceptance, healing, and incredible connections. But first, Bloom amps up the angst, making them really work for the relationship they both deserve. Their journey includes some epic banter and humor that had me cracking up long after the scene ended. And this is one seriously steamy couple. They bring the passion and the heat to incredible heights.
Bloom also does a fantastic job of creating a supporting cast of characters you will love as well as some you will most definitely despise. They enhance the plot perfectly, giving insight into Mae and Remy’s lives as well as building the connections between them. Of course the most adorable supporting character ever comes in the form of little Isabel. I dare anyone to not fall in love with her.
The ins and outs of Mae and Remi’s lives as they navigate daily amongst their friends and families creates excellent pacing and depth to the story. And that twist? Yeah, the build-up is subtle, but once it hits, it hits hard. The emotional intensity is solid and strong, cementing the bond between the characters in the story as well as between the characters and Bloom’s readers.
The Manny is a steamy and heartfelt reverse grumpy/sunshine, reverse age gap, role reversal I will read again and again.
