The Kiss Contract
Fun & Flirty, Sweet & Steamy
A good low angst, light and easy read, with a swoony book boyfriend and a down to earth, mildly chaotic heroine is such a soothing experience for my bookwyrm soul. Fortunately, Angela Taylor’s The Kiss Contract hit the perfect tone for all of that.
Taylor establishes wonderful connections both among the characters in the novel, as well as between the characters and the reader. A healthy balance of banter and heat between Chase and Jessa pulls readers in and builds a sense of light tension and angst, but clearly shows how perfectly matched they are as well. Add in some deep and relatable emotional baggage, and the scene is set for a spectacular happily ever after.
As a series starter, The Kiss Contract sets the table for future stories readers will love just as much. The supporting characters closest to Chase and Jesse are perfectly developed to move the plot along without stealing their thunder, but also build in the desire to see them all get their own perfect HEA. Oh, and there’s a really lovely element of the “wisdom of the ages” built in as well, complete with a scene stealing grandmother, and a heartfelt mother and daughter heart-to-heart that will leave you reaching for the tissues.
The Kiss Contract was a quick and effortless read, a true delight to experience with solid character depth, enticing elements of best-friend’s-brother and fake relationship, and ultimately a sigh-inspiring head-over-heels soulmates connection that’s as swoony as your new book boyfriend Chase is.
