The Forever Kind

The Kind That Owns a Forever Piece of My Heart
I've loved every one of Koko Heart’s books so far, but this one, y'all, this one is special. The Forever Kind is less angsty than Heart’s other books, but this one really steps up the humor and the snark. Antony is top tier BBF material. He’s incredibly swoony, a lover of love, and he knows exactly what he wants. Plus, he has a really wonderful sentimental side and cares so deeply for everyone in his life. And Cleo would 100% be one of my besties. She’s sarcastic and witty, but still not b!tchy. Strong and independent, yet still vulnerable.
I honestly cannot even count the number of times I nearly drenched my kindle in tea laughing through this book. But I also had to reach for the tissues a few times. And occasionally stick my head in the freezer. The character interactions are perfection. The dialogue is authentic. The pacing is spot on. The group texts are hilarious, but also beautiful windows into the family dynamic that makes the entire story work.
Beyond the familial ties of the Cooper sisters, the found family element is alive and essential in The Forever Kind, bringing even more depth to the relationship the story is focused on. Strong friendships conjure feelings of solid support, but also hard lessons and reality checks. And tight family bonds bring honesty and encouragement that is both genuine and heartwarming. And yes, there is still much scene stealing by a certain supporting character (*cough* Marcus), but it’s perfectly placed and timed.
I truly love following an author’s career from the very beginning, and Koko’s growth through her first four books has been remarkable. And with The Forever Kind, she has truly leveled up. This is definitely a can’t put it down, reading way past my bedtime, can’t wait to read it again, book. It stands alone, but is beautiful within the context of the entire series as well.
