Perfect Rockstar
Perfectly Imperfect Love is a Beautiful Thing
Olivia Peters Game Changer series keeps the heat and heart flowing with book 4, Perfect Rockstar. Steamy from the start—I mean, come on, that cover!—Peters immerses readers in a world of stardom and insecurity, longing and need, and lust and love, proving that truly deep relationships are anything but perfect.
Harlow and Bryce are characters readers can absolutely relate to. Yes, he’s a rockstar, well actually a country star, but Peters does a wonderful job of creating a character with true emotional depth, one who’s ready for something deeper, intent on living his real dreams with the woman he falls in love with. And she’s a bit of an enigma, confident in so many ways, yet insecure to a depth that makes her intensely sympathetic, even when you want to grab her by the shoulders and yell, “snap out of it!” But both of them display deep levels of longing that eventually help them find their true purpose together. And it’s really beautiful when it happens, because understanding what you really want and going the distance to get it makes the struggle worth it.
And yes, there is a lot of struggle in this one. A lot of angst. A lot of miscommunication and lack of communication. And woven within it all, Peters tackles some difficult subjects, building more relevance to Bryce & Harlow's relationship, and developing them into complex characters who are each more than who they appear to be on the surface. There are lessons on earning and keeping trust, learning to let go, seeing things through others’ eyes and hearts, and finding yourself amongst the noise and chaos of those surrounding you.
Even with all the angst, the emotional rollercoaster in Rockstar is well worth the ride. I was drawn in from the start and didn’t want to put this one down. The steam, the tears, the laughter, the wisdom, all perfectly intertwined to make this a heart-rending and heartwarming tale of finding your forever in the most unlikely of situations.
Perfect Rockstar is part of the Game Changer series, but can easily be read as a standalone. Appearances by other characters in the series enhance the main characters’ development, but sufficient backstory is included in this novel for readers to understand why they’re relevant. And yes, you will likely want to read their stories after reading this one.
