One Weekend in Rio de Janeiro
Fast-paced, Suspenseful and Steamy Novella
One Weekend in Rio de Janeiro is one of my favorite things Charissa Gracyk has written. It has an effortless intensity that is absolutely perfect for a weekend read. The pacing is stellar, the plot scenario works, and it fits the characters. It can be so rough for an author to get a full story into a novella, but Gracyk wields words and actions perfectly to create a whirlwind adventure with serious steam.
Readers of Gracyk’s Project Phoenix series will revel in Donovan finally getting his HEA. A recurring minor character in several of her books, he definitely made an impression. And Kate is absolutely his perfect match. She’s so real, independent yet vulnerable, and I fell in love with her instantly. The connection between Kate and Donovan sizzles from the start, but it’s beautifully mingled with insights into both of their lives and needs.
If you’re new to Charissa Gracyk, One Weekend in Rio de Janeiro is a fantastic introduction to her writing, and while it can definitely be read as a standalone, it will give you the perfect incentive to jump into her Project Phoenix series.
