Flirting with the Quarterback

Emotional and Steamy Winner…. With a Twist

How did I spend my Superbowl Sunday? Finishing a really fantastic sports romance by Olivia Peters. And yep, it definitely brought all the angst, drama, and spice I absolutely needed, but didn’t want to get from an actual football game.

Peters has always been a go-to author for me when it comes to serious steam and emotional stories, and she definitely brought it all once again in Flirting with the Quarterback. There are so many layers to this story. Not only the grumpy/sunshine element, but employer/employee, age gap, and another really great twist that is so spoilery I am not even going to hint at it!  Because while I kinda saw it coming, the way it developed and was eventually revealed was so much more emotional and intense than I ever would have imagined.

I fell for main characters Camden and Grace really quickly. Their personalities developed completely and beautifully through their journey together, and watching them emerge as individuals and partners was really wonderful. There’s so much push and pull between them, which really plays well into the age gap aspect, and is also a great force behind their eventual HEA. And there’s enough internal and external conflict going around to keep the pace of the story moving forward and the angst in their relationship alive throughout.

Flirting with the Quarterback is a series starter, and Peters definitely sets several storylines in motion for other characters as well. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of them better, seeing open-ended and hinted-at plotlines resolved, and hopefully getting to catch up with Camden and Grace a bit as well.
