Q&A with Author Mindy Paige
This week’s spotlight author has a very close connection to someone I have come to know very well. Rochelle Paige has been an attending author at Charm City Romanticon since the start. She’s been a wonderful friend as well as resource for me and so many other authors. When I started putting together this Q&A for Mindy Paige, I knew instantly I was going to reach out to Rochelle again. Because her connection to Mindy goes beyond events and pages in a book.
I hope you enjoy Rochelle’s intro to Mindy and Mindy’s Q&A as much as I do.
I cannot wait to see Rochelle at CCR2025 and am so excited Mindy will be joining us as a signing author as well.

I am so excited to help intro this week’s author spotlight, Mindy Paige. I’m thrilled that she’s a new addition to Charm City Romanticon, and not just because my son will probably be her helper during the event.
I met Mindy three years ago, while she was attending college to get her bachelor’s degree in botany. As my son’s partner, she was a welcome addition to our family. Even more so when I discovered that we shared a lifelong dream to become an author because it was something we bonded over!
Being a part of her writing journey as been a pleasure. Her kindness and generosity is inspiring.
From contemporary to dark romance, she loves writing spicy, fast-paced stories, and has a goal to write the most unhinged MMCs you can’t help but love.
If not writing or reading, Mindy can usually be found playing with her dogs, tending to her plants, watching trashy reality TV with her boyfriend (and his mom), or fighting off alligators. Okay, that last line is a wish, but no matter how often we scour the lake off their backyard, we haven’t been able to spot the one that lives there. LOL I cannot wait for you all to meet Mindy in March!
-Rochelle Paige
Brayzen Bookwyrm: How did you get started writing?
Mindy Paige: I didn’t start writing seriously until my senior year of college. My partner’s mom is a romance author, and as soon as I learned that was an option, I immediately went “I want to do that!” The rest is history lol.
Brayzen Bookwyrm: Where do you recommend a new reader start in your backlist?
Mindy Paige: For dark romance lovers, I recommend The Devil’s Vice!
Brayzen Bookwyrm: Do you have a favorite/most memorable scene/ part in a novel you've written?
Mindy Paige: I always go back to the scene in The Devil’s Vice where he pulls away from her touch (b/c his face is horribly scarred and people usually think he’s gross/icky) but the FMC shows him she thinks he’s beautiful, anyways.
Brayzen Bookwyrm: Is there a part of your career as an author you thought was going to be difficult but has wound up being really wonderful?
Mindy Paige: I thought finding people to support and read my books would be really really difficult! It is hard sometimes, but it’s so wonderful to see the outpour of love and support from this community <3
Brayzen Bookwyrm: Are there specific themes, tropes, or subgenres you’re more drawn to as an author, reader, or listener?
Mindy Paige: As a reader, I love basically anything! (just depends on my mood… lately, I’ve been into gothic romance!) As an author, I’m drawn to dark scenes/characters/worlds.
Brayzen Bookwyrm: What is your favorite part about being an author?
Mindy Paige: My favorite part is seeing the stories in my head come to life! Whenever I get to hold a new release in my hands, it feels like publishing for the first time all over again!
Brayzen Bookwyrm: What do you like to read/listen to? Any favorite authors you want to send a shout-out to?
Mindy Paige: I’m not much on an audiobook listener, but I love reading basically anything my mood draws me to. I love anything by Opal Reyne, Leigh Rivers, and Amo Jones
Brayzen Bookwyrm: Is there someone(s) who’s been influential in your life as it relates to your career?
Mindy Paige: Rochelle Paige, all the way! She has been so influential in my life as it relates to my career. She’s just amazing! <3
Brayzen Bookwyrm: How have your life experiences influenced your career as an author?
Mindy Paige: I have a background in medicine and botany, and I like to think it’s influenced my work in a positive way. I draw a lot from science and botany when I come up with worlds and characterizations.
