Author Spotlight: Patricia D Eddy

Beautifully Broken Romance

Some of my best friends are particularly good TBR enablers (*cough* JulieCollier *cough*).  I honestly cannot tell you exactly how many authors I’ve found, read, and fangirled because of Julie, but I can tell you with absolute certainty that Patricia D Eddy is one of them.

Julie found Patricia through the Protector Romance Reader Group (PRRG), a group just keeps pulling us in to new authors and leading us down a seriously deep binge dive, but Patricia is one of those authors who writes across subgenres. In addition to romantic suspense, she also writes paranormal/shifter and fantasy romance. I love how those multiple genres seem to blend for a lot of writers.

And honestly, I love a good suspenseful shifter story, so I looked closely at her backlist to pick my first Patricia book. When I read the description for Storm of Sin—and saw Maxine Mitchell and Jason Clarke listed as the narrators of the audiobook—I knew exactly which book I was diving into first. Friends, I fell into that story hard. To be honest, not sure I’m over it yet. It had everything I was looking for. And the narration was, quite honestly, perfection.

I have since purchased the ebooks of Patricia’s entire Away From Keyboard series and plan to dive into that binge soon. Plus, I purchased paperbacks of the other books that coordinate with Storm of Sin (Wicked Omens and Kryn) from Patricia when I saw her at Charm City Romanticon (CCR) 2023. Checking out who narrated those last two titles tells me those will be in my ears pretty soon too.

Since I’m still relatively new to reading Patricia’s books, I leaned on Julie for more info on her favorite Patricia books. Julie started with Patricia’s Restrained Series, which is her Erotic/BDSM/Suspense series, and according to Julie is, “So, so good.” And considering how much Julie reads, that is seriously high praise. Now that she’s finished that series deep dive, the next series she’s diving into is Patricia’s Away From Keyboard series. She said, “I know based on how often it’s recommended in the group, it’ll be fantastic.”

Have I mentioned that Julie reads a lot of books? And based on what she reads, she knows strong alpha males that respect women when she sees them. Fortunately, Patricia has those in droves. Along with incredible depth of character, serious steam, and solid suspense. In fact, Julie told me if you like suspense and heat, you’ll fall down a rabbit hole with Patricia’s books.

Julie has also gotten to know Patricia through the PRRG and beyond being a great storyteller, she’s incredibly kind. I second this. Every interaction I’ve had with Patricia has been wonderful. And she loves to meet and interact with her readers. I first met Patricia at Knockout Bookbash in 2022 and couldn’t wait to see her again. But when we connected at CCR 2023, I got to spend much more time with her and my respect and admiration for her developed into a beautiful friendship that I truly treasure.

After CCR, she jumped on a zoom with the St@lkerSisters to talk about and answer questions about another little project we were working on (Charmed Magic in Myrtle). And then she did a podcast with us about all the things authors have to do besides authoring. And her warmth, wealth of knowledge, and genuine interest in helping others understand and achieve their objectives became strikingly clear. Patricia is more than just an indie romance author with stories to tell, she is truly an incredible human who knows her ish and is happy to share and help others reach for their dreams as well.

I cannot wait to see Patricia again at CCR 2024. It is going to be a beautiful reunion, and I am here for all the hugs!
