The Gossip and the Grump
Humor + Heat + Heart = Pippafection!
There is no way to read a Pippa Grant novel without laughing, snortlaughing, gigglesnorting, and spraying at least one digital reading device with tea. There’s also no way to read one without a book hangover. Or emotional sniffles during her deep dive into the characters’ feelings and motivations for why they do all the hilarious and heartfelt things they do. There’s also no way to read one and not say, “This is my new favorite Pippa book!” And all of those things happened as expected and appreciated in The Gossip and the Grump.
I am always amazed by how well Pippa incorporates those tissue moments into her heat and hilarity. And there are so many between Sabrina and Greyson. Picking up right where The Worst Wedding Date left off, Grant brings readers into a new and completely wonderful level of chaos. Not only are Sabrina and Grey beautifully developed characters I instantly fell in love with, but Grant surrounds them with the most wonderful community of friends, found family, and one perfectly imperfect floof (that’s Jitter, the dog. Just in case you are unfamiliar with the term ‘floof’).
I highlighted so many passages in this book, everything from hilarious quotes (remind me to use the waterproof cover for my Kindle during my reread) to scenes that ended with me hugging my Kindle. And the HEA? OMD, freaking perfection! Watching characters with so much beautiful individual backstory and baggage come together over bees, caffeine, and a bit of revenge: chef’s kiss!
While The Gossip and the Grump is part of Grant’s Three BFFs and A Wedding series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Relevant details from The Worst Wedding Date are seamlessly incorporated into the journey, but will definitely make you want to read (or reread) Date as well. And after reading the epilogue in Grump, I am anxiously awaiting book three. I will have my caffeine and waterproof Kindle cover ready and waiting.
