Second Time’s The Charm
A Story to Fall For Every Time
I love falling in love with Stephanie Rose’s characters. And I fell hard for Jesse and Emily in Second Time’s The Charm. From perfect pacing to genuine and authentic dialogue, this standalone novel is a beautiful way to put characters in heart-wrenching, reality-based situations and bring them through it to the most wonderful HEA.
Incorporating several of my favorite tropes—second chance romance, single dad(ish), and enemies to lovers(ish)—STTC brings an emotional depth I crave with so much heart and the perfect level of heat. Jesse and Emily are intense and passionate, and thankfully so freaking mature. Add in wonderful banter and a heart-melting drunk confession, and the rollercoaster of emotions is complete. I love watching them journey through their emotions and individual turmoil as they reconnect and find out just how incredible they are together.
I always appreciate how Rose brings her supporting characters into her stories as vital elements of the main characters’ lives and connections. STTC is no different. Watching Jesse and Emily bond with each other because of, and over, little Maddie is extraordinary, and I love how she’s written as a catalyst, not a prop.
Second Time’s The Charm is a standalone novel, but readers of her other novels may find a fun Easter egg or two to enjoy with its pages. This is definitely a perfect novel to jump into Rose’s written world. And as I’ve already read it multiple times, it definitely brings an immense amount of joy and charm each time I dive in.
