One Chance
So Much More Than Fake Dating
I will never turn down a chance to visit with the residents of Outtatowner. And in One Chance, book three of her Sullivan Family series, Lena Hendrix reminds me why I love that town so much all while bringing the humor, heat, and heart I’ve come to love in her stories. Witnessing Lee and Annie finally figure it all out was wonderful. Definitely worth the tiny bit of angst readers have to experience to fall into their perfect HEA.
As with all of her books, Hendrix knows how to turn on the heat. Lee is touted as the town playboy, sure, but we all know those characters are way deeper than their reps. He certainly does live up to the seggs-god hype though. Dirty-talker, table for Lee! And Annie, well, I absolutely love her. And I love how she loves Lee, before she even realizes just how much he loves her.
Do they experience the ups and downs typical in a best-friends-to-lovers romance? Absolutely. And they get to experience it on a very public stage as contestants in a dating auction and related experiences. And while some of the experiences serve to highlight just how perfect they are together, others bring a new clarity to why they’ve fought being a couple for so long.
Hendrix does a great job of working in several twists and turns, multiple a-ha moments, a long-standing family mystery, and some serious humor. And it’s all done in a fast-paced, easy read that hits all the high marks for a wonderfully romantic read. Although it’s part of a series, I do believe it can be read as a standalone. But readers who jump in during book three, will definitely find themselves wanting to binge the full series as well.
