Blaze of Glory by Blye Donovan checks all the best boxes for a forced proximity, he falls first romantic suspense. I fell in love with the characters early and easily, and as their story developed, I loved them even more. Donovan builds a solid love story around a fantastic premise, and the “who saved who” theme comes through loud and clear as Blaze and Braylin let go of old hurts to give space to, and revel in, new joys. I loved watching them fight their histories because there was no way to fight their attraction to each other. And in the end, what they find together is simply beautiful.
Woven in with the steam is beautiful banter and stellar tension, created not only by their attraction to each other, but the situations they find themselves in. And Donovan definitely did her homework. Even without the acknowledgements in the back of the book, I could tell she dove into the details to create a realistic scenario for her characters to shine at what they do, separately and together.
Blaze of Glory is definitely standalone readable and a great introduction to Blye Donovan as an author. I’m looking forward to her next one!
